Collaborating with Barneys and Steven Harris Architects on the luxury retailer’s return to downtown Manhattan, LMA helped transform a challenging former residential space into a 58,000-square-foot flagship. The conversion spans five floors and encompasses men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, and a full-service restaurant and bar. A grand spiral stair winds dramatically up four stories, concealing the complex engineering within. At the ground floor, a new 130-foot-long stainless steel canopy floats above a glass and granite storefront, making Barneys’ presence felt on busy 7th Avenue.
